Artist of the Week- Jimmy Chin

1. The technical quality is great. You can see a lot of very small details proving how great it is. This is even more impress seeing the locations he is photographing as he gets great photos from places far from his studio. 2. The composition is amazing. You can see all sorts of distant things in the images and he really has mastered finding the correct focal points, aperture, and shutter speed to take good photos. 3. Yes, the photographer tells a story. For example, the photo below shows the photographer being adventurous. 4. I find it interesting that he is able to find these amazing views consistently to create a career out of photographing these scenes. 

Artist of the Week- Eadward Muybridge

 1. His technical quality is good considering his circumstances. There was not very advanced technology while he was making his work and the fact that he was able to do what he did is amazing.  2. Once again, the composition is good considering his time. You are able to see some details in his work such as the fur on the animal below. For this reason, I think his work was very intriguing and made with good composition. 3. What I find interesting about his work are the subjects he chose to photograph. Out of everything in the world he chose to photographer things such as the animal and person on a horse below. This makes me curious about his works and very interested.

Photographing the Olympic Games

  1. What factors contribute to the intense pressure faced by Olympic photographers during the Games? Factors that contribute to this are the fact that a lot of these events happen very quickly. The video gave the example of the 100 meter dash when saying there is only one chance to take amazing photos and these sporting events. Another factor is the amount of photographers and how competitive this field is. 2. Describe the technological advancements that have revolutionized sports photography during the Olympic Games. The main technological advancement that revolutionized sports photography is the internet. Now, more people watch and read about the Olympics through digital platforms instead of physical ones or through in-person means. This means that photographers have to edit and post photos on social media platforms and other new outlets quickly. The video said some can do this in as fast as 58 seconds. 3. Film Review

 1. I always find it interesting watching the old forms of taking photos. In this case it was very cool learning about how they used egg whites and salt to create the smooth surface. Overall I liked the film because of its detail in the process and insight into this old method of photography. 2. I did not know ARGUS was a thing before the video. I was amazed by how many pixels each photo could take and by the detail in each photo. I liked this video because there are an endless amount of things that this type of photography can be used for. 3. I find this science stuff very interesting and was interested in this short film because it was used to study dark matter in space. It is really cool how they can use this kind of technology to map outer space and study our universe.
